On August 5, 2015, Board Chairman Mr. Song Shoushun, accompanied by Mr. Meng Qinglin, Executive Director and General Manager of Sinoma Overseas Branch, joined by DRC Oriental Province Governor Mr. Bamanisa and PPC CEO Mr.Castle, upon the invation of DRC Prime Minister Mr. Matata, conducted an in-depth conversation with Prime Minister Matata in his official residence.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Matata was firstly briefed by Board Chairman Mr. Song Shoushun and PPC CEO Mr. Castle about the progress, quality, HSE of PPC-Barnet project which was generally contracted by Sinoma, and the situation of addressing local people employment. Prime Minister Matata gave high praise and affirmation after hearing the report about the project situation, meanwhile he expressed: previously, DRC President Josef Kabila gave his full affirmation towards the project progress, commending “China’s Sinoma is absolutely a magician”, in a matter of several months the project site went through dramatic change, and he entrusted me to meet with Sinom’s Board Chairman, and offer my highest support and assistance to the project and Sinoma in policy aspect. At last Prime Minister Matata stated: Supporting by governments of both China and DRC and foreign policies, he expressed his deep gratitude towards the remarkable contribution made by Chinese companies in building infrastructure like road, bridge, airport, housing, port, etc. in DRC, at the same time, he emphasized DRC was a developing country, huge amount of infrastructure building and mineral resources stayed to be developed, DRC needed big enterprises like Sinoma to enter into DRC, settle in DRC, making bigger contribution for DRC in economic construction, labor employment and environmental protection.
Mr. Song Shoushun expressed in the meeting that Sinoma International was a state-owned enterprise, and ranked No.1 for five years in a row in the respect of cement EPC projects; meanwhile, by the leadership of Chinese government and guiding of “the Belt and Road Initiative, going abroad, pursuing development”, Sinoma was most willing to proceed diverse cooperation with DRC, and emphasized that Sinoma International was not only a cement contractor, but also could enlarge cooperation areas in glass, ceramics, building materials, infrastructure, etc. with DRC and play its part in public undertaking and livelihood projects, cooperation could be in the model of investment or financing. The meeting laid a sound foundation for the company’s future development in DRC.
During this visit, Mr. Song Shoushun, accompanied by Mr. Meng Qinglin, Executive Director and General Manager of Sinoma Overseas Branch, Mr. Gao Chao, Vice President of Overseas Branch, also met with Mr. Moise, the Executive Secretary of Sino-DRC Projects Coordination and Supervision Commission, Oriental Province Governor Mr. Bamanisa, Mr. Cong Maohuai, economic adviser to the President, conducted exchanges in many aspects regarding DRC safety situation and the company’s future development, especially about many new cement projects, glass production line projects, Sino-DRC industrial zone, an in-depth discussion was made, both parties expressed good faith, were willing to boost and achieve “diverse development, localized development, environmental protection and livelihood development” on the basis of “equality, mutual benefit, good faith”, various parties all anticipated to “pursue development by joining hands, collaborate to create future”, making bigger contribution to DRC’s economic construction and training of professional and technical personnel, making outstanding contribution to local environmental protection and addressing local people employment.
